Health
Imaging has always been committed to ensuring the best possible
radiological results. This is done by providing superior films and
equipment on one hand, and perhaps more importantly by assisting
radiologists and radiographers to update their knowledge and skills
on the other.
Some
of India's most renowned specialists are helping us achieve this
latter goal, and KRES-Kodak Radiology Education Services is the
result of this joint effort.
The
objective of KRES is to facilitate a process of imparting radiology
education to students as well as practicing radiologists. It is
committed to conducting various educational activities for the radiology
industry in India and neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh
and Nepal.
Key
Activities Undertaken
Kodak
Workshop on Radiology and Imaging
KRES
has conducted several of these informative workshops. Major cities
are chosen for each workshop and students and practicing radiologists
are invited from each region. Each workshop focuses on a particular
topic announced in advance, and speakers share their experiences
and case studies with the audience. This is followed by a quiz and
film reading demonstration.
These
programmes have received an excellent response so far and KRES will
be arranging more such workshops on a regular basis.
Kodak
Radiographer Orientation Programme
Kodak
was the first company to set up an all-India team of quality specialists,
headed by a National Quality Manager, with the objective of ensuring
customers of the best quality from their products.
The
KROP is a training programme designed for radiographers conducted
by region quality specialists. The topics covered include the basics
of X-ray generation, artifacts, manual and automated processing,
darkroom techniques, radiation hazards and an introduction to Digital
Technology.
KRES
has conducted over 300 such programmes and will be releasing advance
modules for future programmes.
Breast
Health Education Programme
The
aim of this programme is to educate patients in the detection of
breast cancer. Mammography is the most advanced method so far of
detecting it in its early stages, when it is most easily treated.
Kodak has published a pamphlet for patients on detecting breast
cancer, and will be conducting mammography camps and breast health
education programmes in association with hospitals and clinics across
the country.
The
Radiograph
This
is a quarterly journal published by KRES for the entire radiology
industry, with the help of the advisory panel. Each issue of the
journal focuses on various subjects of radiology. Copies of The
Radiograph are mailed to over 4500 radiologists in India and some
neighboring countries. Soft copies of the journal are also released
for archiving and easy circulation all over the world.
Requests
are pouring in from other countries to have this journal published
in foreign languages also.
